Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty (in English: The Statue of Liberty, in French: Statue de la Liberté), officially Liberty Enlightening the World (English: Liberty Enlightening the World, French: La liberté éclairant le monde), is a monument located in entrance to the Port of New York since October 28, 1886,. Celebrates the centenary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence of the United States and is a gesture of friendship from France to the United States. Designed and built by sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi Alsatian (1834-1904), which was based on the Colossus of Rhodes to build it. To build the internal metallic structure of the statue, Bartholdi was attended by French engineer Gustave Eiffel, the same architect of the Eiffel Tower.
